About Emerging Abstract Artist and Cosmetic Dentist in Melbourne, Dr Zenaidy Castro
Prior to
working in photography, my artistic journey involved exploration and
experimentation with painting a wide variety of subject matter, ranging from
organized still life to landscape, to life drawing, to portraits, to abstract. I
also worked in a wide range of styles, interests, and themes, as well as in a
variety of media, and was influenced by many artistic styles. My creative
process seems like a yin and yang, with a strong passion for each end of the colour
spectrum—from black and white to art that displays a visual feast of colour. These
different parts of my artistic persona balance each other.
With that in
mind, what I feel strongest in my heart is my consistent love of abstract art—in
all of its different forms, be it a real
painting or digital art. I love the creative process involved in searching your
imagination for inspiration. I love the vibrancy and colour explosion in abstract
works, which expresses mood and infuses the art with life of its own, built upon
richly coloured paint and a wide range of textural effects, painting strokes,
and styles.
Recently, my artistic journey has lead me to the new and exciting possibilities and discoveries presented by digital abstract rendition. When learning about this technique, I was inspired by how something so small and seemingly insignificant can be transformed into something big and beautiful and full of life with colour, forms, lines, and light. I like that the unfolding of things—with different perspective and imagination—will be given a chance to turn into something as beauty and art to those who look for it and make a difference.
For me, the creation of art is like planting tiny seeds;
with the proper attention and inspiration, they can grow into beautiful trees.
Many of the most significant outcomes in our lives are the result of someone planting
a seed and starting the growth process. Every beautiful piece of art, every
monumental historical accomplishment, and everything humans have created,
started with the seed of small thoughts or imagination and creativity; these
seeds were given the chance to work and to grow into reality and not
disregarding possibilities even with seemingly small insignificance.
I love my artistic journey of creating and improvising something, from simple realistic images to abstract renditions, and ending up with something entirely different. Perhaps this is my personal "handwriting" of art—my share of the world's visual language.
Wassily Kandinsky—the so-called "father of Abstraction," famously stated that “There is no must in art because art is free.”
In between dentistry and waiting for my next local or overseas photographic field tour, my artistic endeavours involved digital exploration and art creation of either abstract, urban art, or pop art themes.
I love stretching my creativity and imagination to see beyond the seemingly small and insignificant elements, and exploring how can I turn those elements inside out (and around) to form a piece of beauty and art. I love the intensely combined colour vibrancy, the shape, and the form as I explore the new and potentially wonderful opportunities that were ahead in creating my art.
My artwork may start on one path and quickly change direction, somewhat like how life and events may change quickly. Those potential changes force us to make a choice to either confront those life events, seize the moment of transition and push ourselves to move, or, on the other hand, they can leave us feeling stuck. This articulation of exploration and discovery is also an explanation of how I create my art; I seek to entice the viewer to think, to feel, and to be “here and now.” And I hope that every piece of art you will discover here enhances your life the way that they’ve enhanced mine.
